My Everyday Curls
My most requested post is finally here! It took me some time to create this post for you all because I kept going back and forth on whether or not I should film a video or take pictures and describe the steps. Then I kept over analyzing any content I would try to create..... Finally I woke up one day and thought "just do it already!", and I did just that! So here is the down and dirty of how I achieve my curls -- including the products I use and love!
First I want to start by saying I only wash my hair about 2-3 times per week //depending on how much I sweat during my workout// I have a naturally oily scalp and typically sweat a good amount in my hairline during workouts. Therefore, I had to train my hair to extend between washes. It took me a few weeks and a great dry shampoo. I used THIS one!
I swear by THIS curling wand- best I've ever tried (plus it is so pretty). It comes with a comb -- specific for brushing your curls -- ill get into this in a bit-- and a glove to protect your hand! The barrel is made of titanium and it offers 3 different heat settings. I use 425 when creating my curls because it allows me to achieve the curl I want in 10 seconds! It also swivels so you can use the barrel horizontal or vertical. I ALWAYS use the barrel vertical to achieve my curls. This curling iron also shuts off after 30 minutes of no movement, which if you're forgetful like me, is a LIFESAVER!
These 3 products are my everyday go-tos! After I finish each layer I spray all the curls lightly with THIS hair spray. Once I discovered Moroccanoil hairspray, I haven't been able to use anything else. It is so perfect for curls.... just the right amount of hold without weighing the curls down or being sticky. After my curls cool, I use one pump of THIS oil treatment and run it through the length of my hair. I have to put this on my ends daily because my extensions do not naturally create their own oils. This helps keep my extensions from drying out and I LOVE the look it gives my curls as well, so its a major win-win!! I also use (very sparingly) a texturizing spray, THIS one, to help fluff some of the curls. I only use this on the first and second day of styling to avoid product build up.
Once I put on all of these products I have two more final steps. Step one is to lightly brush out the curls using the Kristin Ess curl comb that comes with the wand. This step is key to achieving my everyday curls! My last step is to straighten out the bottom inch that I leave out when curling my hair. I use THIS straightener! This gives my ends a smooth finished look!
Lastly here is the video to show you all how I achieve my effortless looking curls! Enjoy!
